About Dr. Sclafani

Dr. Joseph D. Sclafani currently serves as Interim Dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and Associate Professor of Psychology at The University of Tampa. He is trained as a clinical/developmental psychologist and family therapist, and maintains his state licensure. He has over 20 years of experience with families and children in private practice and community mental health agencies. He conducted child custody evaluations during his private practice years, where he was also involved in parent education activities. He has also received training as a Florida Supreme Court-certifiable Family Mediator. He continues to provide community-based education to families who are re-marrying.

Dr. Sclafani has trained and supervised a variety of mental health professionals, as well as serving as a peer consultant to area therapists. Most recently, he has taught Child Psychology and Developmental Psychology to an undergraduate mix of future psychologists, nurses and teachers each semester.
